At a glance
Orb stock guard reads required stash stacks before crafting and tracks their remaining stock during the run. It stops spending when a required orb is depleted or its stock cannot be verified.
Before you start
Complete setup, including the relevant stash locations and item copy. Use the bounded first tree or another short personal tree with a known orb requirement.
Use a disposable magic item, a three-pass Alteration budget, and at least three Alterations.
1. List the materials this tree can spend
Open the tree and inspect its reachable Orb nodes. For the hypothetical first-tree example, Alteration is the only spending action.
Check nested trees too. Guard checks should correspond to materials the run can actually use.
2. Verify the stash locations
In Area Locations, check the configured stash location for each required orb. It must point to that material's actual stack, and the game must be able to show the relevant stash tab.
Open PoE and inspect the stack yourself. If you moved a stack or changed the layout, recapture its location before running. A readable item tooltip and a readable currency stack are separate checks.
3. Enable the guard
Open Settings and find Craft runs. Turn on Orb stock guard and save settings if the screen offers Save.
The guard adds a material-reading stage at the start. Let the runner complete it before judging the crafting flow. Keep the stash accessible and avoid moving the mouse during automated reads.
4. Run a small known batch
Return to the Hub, save the example's Roll budget as 3, and start on the disposable magic item. Keep bulk off for this check.
With a verified stack of at least three Alterations, the tree should complete its three permitted applications. If startup reports an unreadable or empty required stack, stop there and correct the location or stock before starting again.
5. Read the stop reason
Open Logs and check the material snapshot or orb-count messages. A depletion message identifies the orb whose remaining stash count reached zero. An unreadable-stack message asks you to fix the source the guard could not verify.
Keep the Counter as your planned spending budget. The guard protects against depletion; it does not choose a target modifier or set a three-orb allowance for you.
6. Refill and start a fresh run
After a depletion stop, add the required material and verify its stash position. Start again so the runner can read the current stock and initialize the new run.
The Hub's Materials table contains saved on-hand information. With stock guard enabled, live stash counts drive guarded orb spending during the run.
Check the result
The runner should verify the needed stack and complete the bounded example, or stop with a specific stock issue before further spending. Preserve that message if you need help diagnosing a failed read.
If it does not work
- Could not read stack: verify the stash location and unobstructed tooltip.
- Stops despite a saved Materials value: check the live stash stack the guard reads.
- Fossils stop with one left: fossil and resonator handling requires a spare stack item; refill before retrying.
