At a glance
Build the tree yourself with +, then follow its connections to see where it can stop. This example rerolls a disposable magic item three times; it does not search for a valuable result.
Before you start
Complete setup for your first run. Use an identified, uncorrupted magic item whose existing modifiers you are willing to replace, and have at least three Alterations in your configured stash location. Check your Stop hotkey before starting.
1. Create your own tree
On the Hub, press +, enter a name such as Three Alterations, and press Create. Open that tree with Edit. The canvas gives you Start and Finish as the two ends of your flow.
2. Add the item check and orb
Add Check Item from the palette. Choose Rarity and select Magic. Add an Orb, choose Alteration, and press Add to Tree. Confirm edits with Update when editing an existing node.
The rarity check protects the example from trying its orb on a normal, rare, or unique item. Identification and corruption still need checking before the run.
3. Add a three-pass counter
Add Counter. In Run Parameters counter, choose Create new and create a number parameter labelled Roll budget, then select it for the Counter.
Open the toolbar's Params control, expand the parameter's Details, and set its Fallback default to 3. Keep it as a run setting so you can enter its value before starting.
4. Connect every route
Drag connections to form these routes:
- Start → rarity check.
- Rarity met → Counter; rarity unmet → Finish.
- Counter met → Alteration → Counter.
- Counter unmet → Finish.
The Counter tests the value before decreasing it. Starting at 3 permits three met passes; its next visit at 0 takes unmet.
5. Check the material stop
In Settings, find Craft runs and enable Orb stock guard. Verify the Alteration stash location is configured and readable. This lets depletion or an unreadable required stack stop the run. Return to your tree and use Back to Hub to finish editing.
6. Run the example
Set Roll budget to 3 in Run Parameters and wait for Saved. Keep bulk off. Hover the magic item in PoE and use your configured Start or Focus+Start shortcut.
Check the result
With readable stock and a valid item, the run applies three Alterations and reaches Finish. In Logs, check the counter changes 3 → 2, 2 → 1, and 1 → 0. A stop before that count needs investigation before another run.
If it does not work
- Nothing crafts: check the item is Magic and the saved budget is
3. - Run is blocked: connect both check outputs and remove any unused nodes.
- Item copy fails: keep Ctrl+Alt+C free; follow item copy troubleshooting.
