At a glance
Every Check Item node has a condition-met route and a condition-not-met route. Build a small check-only tree first so you can observe both routes before connecting a crafting action.
Before you start
Create an editable tree with Start and Finish. Complete first-run setup and prepare an identified magic item. This walkthrough uses Rarity followed by Empty Mods and spends no currency.
1. Add the first check
Choose Check Item in the palette and select Rarity. Select Magic and deselect other rarities that are highlighted.
Click Add to Tree. Place the node between Start and Finish so there is room for another check beside it.
2. Add the second check
Add another Check Item, this time choosing Empty Mods. Set Minimum open slots to 1 and select Empty affix quantity under Check.
This asks whether the item has at least one available prefix or suffix slot. A magic item with one occupied prefix and an empty suffix is a useful example. Click Add to Tree.
3. Connect Start to the first check
Drag from Start's output connection point to an input connection point on the Rarity node. Check that the line actually ends on the node's connection point.
Start has one continuation. The Rarity node has two outcomes because it evaluates the item.
4. Connect the passing route
Find the Rarity node's condition met output. Its default color is green; hover over the connection point to confirm its meaning. Drag it to an input on the Empty Mods node.
The second check now runs only when the first check accepts the item's rarity. A line between the nodes is useful only when it starts from the intended output.
5. Connect the remaining outcomes
Connect Rarity's condition not met output to Finish. That output is amber by default. Connect both outputs of Empty Mods to Finish for this test.
Finishing both outcomes of the second check lets you inspect its result without attaching a currency action. Make sure Start reaches the first check and each outcome has a destination.
6. Run and read the route
Save, return to the tree's Run control, and run once with the magic item in the configured item position. Open Logs and confirm that Rarity passes and Empty Mods is evaluated afterward.
Repeat with an identified rare item. Rarity should fail and route directly to Finish, skipping Empty Mods. To test the second node's failing output, use a magic item with both its prefix and suffix occupied.
Check the result
The magic item reaches both checks. The rare item reaches only Rarity. The full magic item reaches Empty Mods and fails its open-slot requirement. These outcomes confirm the three routes with actual item reads.
If it does not work
- The second check always runs: confirm its incoming line starts from Rarity's condition-met output.
- The run stops at a check: inspect the relevant output for a missing connection.
- Logs describe another item: correct the configured item position and resolve item-copy problems.
